Utah's Top Youth Volunteer for 2011

Congratulations! Aimee Matheson, CHS Student Body Service Vice President, for being selected as Utah’s top youth volunteer in the 2011 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. This is a nationwide program recognizing young people for outstanding community service.

Aimee is indeed a role model as she was instrumental in planning and initiating our “Falcon’s are Fabulous” event this year when 40 of our students traveled to Guatemala to build a school for underprivileged children during the Christmas Holidays.

As a State Honoree, Aimee will receive a $1,000 award, an engraved silver medallion and a trip to Washington, D. C. for a series of special recognition events in early May. Only 102 young people nationwide, one middle level and one high school student in each state and the District of Columbia, receive this honor.

Based on the number of volunteer hours Aimee spent, she has also qualified for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. On behalf of President Obama, this prestigious award is presented to honorees who have met stringent requirements. In addition, Aimee is also among the top ten National Honorees who will receive $5,000 grants for the charities of their choice.
